Food System Resilience Program (FSRP)
Through the 17 research centers of Oromia Agricultural Research Institutes, the program, which is funded by the World Bank and other Development Partners (DPs), will reach district farmers in Oromia Regional State who are beneficiaries of the FSRP. Finding agricultural technology and information that can meet the needs of agricultural technology in Oromia is the objective of FSRP research. Three areas of intervention are identified:
- Enhancing agricultural technology generation and source technology production
The main engine for sustainability is the advancement of agricultural technologies, which increases the productivity, quality and production of commodities in the value chain. The following were supported by FSRP: source technology production and semi-commercialization; adaptation and generation of certain pipeline technologies; and adaptation and generation of demand-driven technologies of value chain commodities.
- Promote farmer’s adoption of research Innovations through Pre extension Demonstration
The program supports pre-extension and large-scale demonstration of recently recommended/ released agricultural technologies, the initiative seeks to increase the adoption of these technologies.
- Building capacities of research systems
Building the human and physical capacities to foster an environment that supports the research system is crucial to generate better agricultural innovative ideas and technologies.
